Everyone Wins at the Vendys

... well, not really. But all the vendors who competed deserved to win or at least get honorable mentions. The actual prize winners, however, were the Country Boys and their awesome tacos (of Red Hook ballfield fame), owned by husband-and-wife team Fernando and Yolanda Martinez; Meru Sikder's Biryani Cart (for the second year in a row); Wafels & Dinges for best dessert (definitely the liege with spekuloos spread), and Schnitzel & Things (ever have eggplant schnitzel? Yum!) for Rookie Vendor of the Year. Other standouts, IMHO (in my humble opinion) were the jerk chicken from The Jamaican Dutchy, the BBQ pork from Picnick, the Elvis cupcake with real bacon from Cupcake Stop and the Affogayto Mexicano sundae - Mexican hot chocolate brewed with cinnamon sticks, honey, and a spice blend, served over ice cream with chocolate, cinammon, spices -- from the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck.
