Mother's Day and Kentucky Derby Celebrations at NYC's Roosevelt Hotel - May 7

I’ll never forget the one time I was invited to Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby. It’s many years ago now, but I loved the ceremony, the tradition, and especially the fantastic mint juleps (I still have the souvenir glass). A fantastically refreshing cocktail.

This year’s Derby will be run on May 7, and on Sunday, at The Roosevelt Hotel’s, rooftop lounge mad46, you can join a New York City Kentucky Derby party from 4-10pm with mint juleps and Woodford Reserve-based bourbon cocktails, against a city skyline. There will be prizes for best attire with a variety of categories, and you'll be able to join the betting pool.

This has been a week of dressing up “in kind” -- for the Royal Wedding at a Barbuda's and Antigua's “royal tea party” at aka (with striking fascinators), for a moving and celebratory tribute at Ground Zero (in red, white, and blue) and now for the classic Kentucky Derby (seersucker and hats). To reserve a table for the event, contact mad46@rooseveltny.com, 45 East 45th Street, Manhattan, www.theroosevelthotel.com.
