Philadelphia Flower Show Starts Today! - Special Promotion with Van Gogh Exhibit at Museum of Art

I can almost taste spring just thinking about one of my favorite Philly events of the year, the Philadelphia International Flower Show. I may be a diehard Red Sox fan, making me partial due to our interleague "rivalry," but Philly holds a special place in my heart as home to one of my alma maters. Baseball aside, you don't need to fly out to the Pacific to enjoy some tropical blooms, as Philly is welcoming our fiftieth state with this year's theme "Hawaii: Islands of Aloha." There’s a lot to look forward to from the world's largest lettuce wall, to a 25-foot-high waterfall cascading into an exotic garden, to the grand entrance constructed from 2,000 orchids. The show starts today and runs through next Sunday, March 11.

After a day (or perhaps an entire weekend) of taking in these floral wonders, you can also feast your eyes on many of Vincent Van Gogh’s masterpieces with the new Up Close exhibit at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Take advantage of the special combo ticket that showcases both of these fantastic events: purchase your Flower Show ticket online and you’ll receive 10% off on a timed ticket to see the Van Goghs. If you miss the Flower Show, you can still see the Van Gogh exhibit, which runs through May 6. This is the exhibit’s only showing in the U.S., another great reason to visit Philadelphia NOW.

General admission for the Flower Show is $27 for adults, $20 for students, and $15 for children. Show revenues will support the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and more specifically City Harvest. Tickets can be purchased online. Pennsylvania Convention Center (12th & Arch streets).
